Travel Walking 18.16 km, 7:08 hours, 690 meters up, 850 meters down

It was cold and lightly drizzling when we got up. So we packed up and walked a few hours to Vidette Meadows for breakfast. We carried on down for several hours in the valley. At one point, we saw an agitated lone coyote.

Then we hiked up 1,000 feet in a bear area where the rangers suggested pretending to attack any bears we see to deter them from approaching humans. At the top we took the Bullfrog Lake Trail to get to Kearsarge pass to exit tomorrow and get resupplied.

We camped at middle Kearsarge Lake now. I swam, but it’s started raining. It turned out that this rainstorm was really bad further down the trail and ruined many a hikers days.
