Nepal - Dole & Kathmandu - Day 8

Trek to Dole village 4,200m (15.8km - 7 hours)

“We will be back to normal Gokyo valley trekking trail and this is very beautiful trail with views. Overnight: Dole 4200m, (14104 ft)”

So that was the plan; however, not for me, just Robin and Angela. I woke with a mild fever and trouble breathing, which I eluded to in previous days. But it was clear to me that I had to stop or I would ruin the trip for everyone.

The interesting thing was how easy it was to be whisked down to Lukla, where we started the hike and then down to Kathmandu in helicopters. From deciding to leave the trail at 7:30am, to calling for a price, to flying and taxiing to a hotel only took four hours. Clearly they do this a lot.

Robin and Angela said it was a tough day, so I made the right call. I am sad about it, but that’s life.
