Today was our last full day in China.
We started at Baofeng Lake with a boat trip. It was pretty, a bit touristy, with singers on boats in the lake, but nice enough.
Then we went up the very snowy Tianmen Mountain. The famous glass bridge and skywalks were closed because of the snow, but the ice and snow made the trees look very pretty. Then we went down 12 super long escalators to get views of Heaven’s Gate, a natural window into the mountain.
Tianmen Mountain features a large natural hole in its base and a scenic garden at its summit. Tianmen Gate, a natural hole 131.5 m in height, 57 m in width, and 60 m in depth, looks like a gate to the heavens, thus giving the mountain the name Tianmen, which literally means Heavenly Gate.
Then, we had a six-hour wait for a flight to Shanghai, a cross-town taxi to the other airport, a four-hour sleep, and then a long day of flying back to London.
What a great trip.
