Today was our only ‘free day’ of the trip, aka no tours. We still woke up early to see the morning market along the wall. There was loads of food to buy, both prepared and fresh. For breakfast, we had some fried buns and mini pork dumplings.
Then we went back to our hotel via the park outside the wall, where all the retired people were doing exercise, dancing, music, and calligraphy with water. Back at the hotel, we did laundry on the roof, overlooking the wall.
Then we walked to a large antique market, which was a bit disappointing. We took the metro home.
We walked to the bell and drum towers and the Muslim quarter in the evening.
We love it here.
