John Muir Trail - Day 18 - Silver Pass to Red Cones

As there was no pass to go over, we thought they day would be full of gradual ups and downs. Little did we know (as we clearly didn’t read our maps properly) that we would climb nearly 2,500 feet up to Tully Hole (which is not a pass) and then down to Purple Lake and then back up to 10,400 feet.
Only after 10 miles did the trail become more level. Angela also fell over and twisted her ankle mid- morning.
We had a nice last camp near Red Cones with Angela, Sam, Mike and Ernie. They are going into town, and we are going to go a bit slower to get to Yosemite in time for the Half Dome Permit.
