Japan 2015 - Kyoto - Day 11

Stayed | Kyoto | Smile Hotel Kyoto Shijo |
Ate | Dinner | CoCo Ichibanya Shijō Ōmiya |
We started the day at the Fushimi Inari Taisha (伏見稲荷大社) shrine with hundreds of bright orange tori gates. There are messages painted on each gate from various families. It is more impressive that I could even have imagined. The path is quiet long with many little shrine areas along the way.
We had lunch just outside the shrine in an outdoor marketplace, it was really nice with gyoza and noodles.
In the afternoon, we walked around the central Nishiki Market (錦市場) with beautiful food shops, knive shops and more.
For dinner we went to the CoCo Ichibanya Shijō Ōmiya and watched a man eating a curry so hot he was profusely sweating and tearing up. Asking our server about this, he said you can only have curry up to level 4 without having a card saying you have tried 5 twice or something. Crazy.
