València - Day 1

lead image

The Fallas are in full swing in Valencia. Every few blocks there are giant papier-mâché statues in the middle of an intersection. Each one has, often subtle, political messages. There are almost always a much smaller, children’s one as well. Some you can even pay to get closer and take more photos.

Some areas they even decorate the streets with lights and food carts.

What a fun tradition.

We are here for a month, but I already worry these two days of the festival might make the rest of the trip feel quiet.
