we really like Morioka but we had to leave by 10am because of the car. So we got up early and visited Hoonji Temple that is famous for a room with 1,000 Buddha statues. It was pretty. Then we drove to Lake Tarawa, the deepest lake in Japan. It was rimmed with mountains but a bit misty. The we headed to Dakigaeri Gorge. After around 1 k, the path was closed. We did see soon lovely very blue water. Then we drove to Kakunodate, a town that has many preserved samurai homes and a big cherry festival with. 2 km cherry ‘tunnel’. It was in perfect bloom. Finally. Now we are in Akita and just has the famous chicken, Hinai jidori. Nice day!
