Kirkby Stephen To Keld - Yorkshire Dales National Park

The day starts with a hike up to the Nine Standards Rigg, a set of nine very large cairns. No one really knows what they are for, but they are pretty impressive. When we got there, it started sleeting with very gusty winds. We hid behind a cairn for a while, but didn’t stay long.

Instead we followed the path based on our time of year. That led us into the craziest bog I have ever seen. With 2 meeter deep cuts, streams, standing ponds and really hard to find posts to lead us on to Keld. Luckily we followed two women who seemed to know the way.

Keld is a really pretty, tiny Swaledale village. We got a place in a B&B and had a lovely evening.
